Kito and Seb and their cows hit the floor in a land of sheep!At 20:13, French time (UT+1), Kito de Pavant and Sébastien Audigane on the Groupe Bel monohull moored in Chaffers Marine in Wellington for a 48 hour technical pit stop. Still under the influence of an anticyclonic calm, the two sailors took roughly twenty hours to sail between Farewell Point to the north west of the South Island and the capital of New Zealand. New Zealand's welcome for Seb and KitoGroupe Bel has reached the landscape of New Zealand to enjoy a magnificent sunrise from the bottom of the mountains. In the end the wind last night allowed us to finally extricate ourselves from the calms and break into Tasman Bay in the north of the Cook Strait. Groupe Bel is third !Groupe Bel, around 175 miles further back in third place, have managed to maintain higher averages at just a shade under 10 knots overnight. However, Estrella Damm in fourth were sailing at just 2.8 knots as this morning's report was taken, some 32 miles north-west of Kito de Pavant and Sebastien Audigane (FRA), with these two boats looking set to diverge further. New ZealandAt the front of the fleet, MAPFRE are now just over 200 miles from Farewell Point and the entrance to Cook Strait, while Groupe Bel continue to edge ever closer to Estrella Damm in third, now just 32 miles in front of them.
