The Groupe Bel monohull dismastsThe Groupe Bel monohull dismasted this Monday at 17:80 (GMT+1) after slamming violently into a wave at the centre of the forecasted storm. Kito de Pavant is not in any danger. The mast is broken as well as the boom and one of the outriggers. Groupe Bel was 260 miles from Sables d'Olonne at the time. Read more |

Start of the Vendée Globe 2008Today, the children's favorite boat set out to sea on a round-the-world. At 13:02, the 6th Vendée Globe got off to a great start. After heartrending goodbyes on the pontoon this morning, Kito de Pavant put on his racing shoes as did the other competitors to set out on a 42,000 kilometer trail round the world. Read more |

Groupe Bel in Sables d'OlonneThe monohull bearing the effigy of the La vache qui rit® (Laughing Cow) arrived in Port Olonna on Saturday evening after an eight day delivery from Port Camargue. This 1,700 mile voyage in varying weather conditions with a last run close hauled in a 35 knot wind was enough to confirm Kito de Pavant's confidence in his boat. Read more |
