The wind files are showing more pressure to the south, beneath the fleet, which is where Kito is positioned, at 4.5 miles off the lead. The leader of the pack, Adrien Hardy, is one of the most northerly boats, but is managing a speed of only 4.5 knots, whereas Groupe Bel is doing 6.4 knots. The suspense will be kept up all the way to the “Rock”, the last turning mark before the final battle along the coast of Ireland up to Kinsale, where the first boats are expected at around 2000 this evening.
