The days I spend in St. Malo are very full. Meetings with the media, signing autographs, weather briefs, and preparing the boat take up virtually all my time and stealing a few hours to rest is complicated but necessary. When I compete in a race it's to win, but I don't add any extra pressure, I simply want to get going. You need to be demanding of yourself and to do the best to prepare. I know my boat inside out and I have sailed an awful lot this year, so I feel in phase with what is expected of me.
The start is forecast to be quiet on Sunday, but this will change very quickly, since we are expecting wind at the tip of Brittany. We know that it will be dangerous. There is always a risk of colliding with 86 boats at the starting line. We will have to sail well right from the start and make the right tacks straight away.
The Route du Rhum has been my dream since I was a child. This race has guided my life.
