New Zealand's welcome for Seb and Kito

Landscape of New Zealand
© Groupe Bel
Groupe Bel has reached the landscape of New Zealand to enjoy a magnificent sunrise from the bottom of the mountains. In the end the wind last night allowed us to finally extricate ourselves from the calms and break into Tasman Bay in the north of the Cook Strait. We discover this wonderful landscape, cliffs covered with greenery and plant life, a chain of dunes bathing in the sea. The sunrise also allowed us to see our mates on Estrella Damm who we passed during a sail change which may have turned out badly for them. At the moment the two red IMOCA Open 60's are within three miles of each other, Groupe Bel forging the path to Wellington under a sun which is a treat for sailors. We think we might reach the dock in Wellington at around 2000hrs UTC if the breeze does not lighten too much in the Strait.

A 48hrs stopover is in order to repair the sails. To solves some energy and fuelling problems and Groupe Bel will be good to go, better than ever to race towards Cape Horn.

Good Day,
Kito and Seb
Groupe Bel
