End of yard work imminent!

The new Groupe Bel keel will arrive in Port Camargue next week. After the trimming of the part by the team technicians, the launching and masting of the monohull will be able to begin.

This timing will not enable the participation, as initially planned, in the Giraglia Rolex Cup "offshore" race, leaving from St. Tropez next Wednesday. However, Kito has already established an incredible sailing calendar, with joint training at the end of June with a choice companion, since the British 60' monohull, Hugo Boss, skippered by Alex Thomson, will be taking up quarters for a few days at Port Camargue!

"Making rings in the water is good, but doing it with another boat is even better", says the skipper with amusement, who suggested to Alex that he should come and seize this great opportunity, since his boat is currently sailing in the Mediterranean. For two weeks, the yachts will be able to rate each other during speed tests, but also during maneuvers, and even the occasional race offshore. All this, of course, is intended to boost the preparations for the Transat Jacques Vabre in which Groupe Bel will line up alongside Hugo Boss and the entire 60 foot IMOCA fleet (leaving from Le Havre on 30 October, heading for Costa Rica).

On tour!
While waiting to feel the salt water again with her fine quick red hull, Groupe Bel is still being pampered by her favorite technicians. As the week draws to a close her skipper is taking advantage of this to go and support some of the major sailing meetings in the Mediterranean.

This Thursday, Kito is moving up and down the harbor of Marseille before of the magnificent ballet of TP 52s and Soto 40s taking part in the French leg of the Audi Med Cup, a professional circuit bringing together the cream of international regatta racers. And for those who have Canal+ Sport, do not miss the special program dedicated to the event at 22:45 this Thursday evening with a nice nod in the direction of our skipper!

As for this weekend, Kito is heading to Porquerolles for the finish of the Generali Solo, this Figaro circuit event, for which he holds the title since 2006, with Groupe Bel. He will be there to congratulate the sailors and hand over the trophy to the 2011 winner of this event. As far as this is concerned, nothing yet can be decided, since, at present, the Norman, Fabien Delahaye (Caen Ouistreham Port) is leading the overall ranking, followed by Jean-Pierre Nicol (Bernard Controls), loyal to the Mediterranean Training Centre founded by Kito, and Gildas Morvan (Cercle vert), but there are only 4 small points separating them! So there's plenty of suspense. Friday and Saturday, the racers will compete one last time on the dream stretch of water at Porquerolles and the outcome is likely to be thrilling!
