Group Bel safely arrived in Gustavia

See you soon

While Kito has been allowing himself a little well-earned rest after the Transat Jacques Vabre, his technical team comprised of Brice, Gwen and Hervé have been delivering Groupe Bel to the island of St Bart's from Puerto Limon. After 8 days in the Caribbean Sea, the three lads moored in the harbor of Gustavia on Tuesday, a little after midnight. An invigorating delivery for once in the Caribbean greyness, but still with a smile! Before setting a course for the Mediterranean, as soon as the weather conditions are favorable to a great crossing of the Atlantic single-handed, Kito will welcome the local Bel partners on Friday, for a day of sailing on the red monohull.

Full of pineapples and it's off again!

Under the watchful eye of Kito, little used to "good-byes" from the pontoon, the Groupe Bel technical team left Puerto Limon on 22 November. The delivery got off to a good start in light air, before the Caribbean very quickly decided to offer them what it does best when it comes to uncertain weather conditions. “We quickly sympathized with Kito and Yann during the continual sail changes caused by the passing of a few fierce squalls. We had to negotiate fairly strong wind changes. It was a well-paced delivery” explained Gwen, sports manager. “As we passed Mona between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, we were sailing at more than 30 knots in counter currents! It was an opportunity to appreciate the excellent behavior of the boat in this very choppy sea.” Yes, St Bart's, must be earned. Clouds, each blacker than the previous one and incessant tropical rains, made for a wet T-shirt mood throughout the trip. Here's a postcard!

Another arrival during the night!

Whether racing or being delivered, the Cow seems to have an unfortunate preference for night time arrivals. After having enjoyed the passage between the islands of Saint-Martin, Saba and Saint-Eustache at sunset, it was 00:35 local time when Gwen, Hervé and Brice got back to dry land, welcomed by Kito and Françoise.  After a good dry night's sleep, the dream team got down to doing a small general check over of the boat on Thursday, before welcoming the Bel partners from the Caribbean, on Friday, for a day of sailing in the turquoise waters of the most jet-set of the islands! Gustavia is a harbor which the Groupe Bel team is very familiar with, having come here in 2009 for the finish of the Transat AG2R on the Groupe Bel Figaro. However the time in St Bart's will only be short, since Kito de Pavant could set off on Sunday for the return delivery, single-handed, to Port Camargue. This Atlantic crossing can be followed live on www.sharingsmilestour.com.
